Fairfax Wind Symphony

Established in the fall of 1999, The Fairfax Wind Symphony is a wind ensemble formed to benefit local music directors and teachers. Overall, its primary focus is to read and prepare wind literature of all grade levels and to explore contemporary rehearsal techniques and procedures.

In 2015, the Fairfax Wind Symphony received 501(c)3 status as a charitable organization. Similarly, players volunteer their time for all performances.

Performances

In addition to their regular concert schedule, the ensemble also has a history of significant performances including:

  • Performances at fourteen VMEA In-service Conferences
  • Five appearances at the Kennedy Center
  • The Forbes Center in Harrisonburg, VA.
  • Soldiers and Sailors Hall in Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Three appearances at the George Mason University Potomac Festival
  • The 2006 Mid-West Clinic
  • The 2016 Association of Concert Bands Convention.

Meanwhile, starting with their 2002 season, the Fairfax Wind Symphony has shared annual concerts with the George Mason University Wind Symphony as a tradition.

Meanwhile, in February 2004, Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel accepted the Resident Guest Conductor position and has continued making annual appearances with the Wind Symphony. In addition, other guest artists have included:
